Highlighting the heavy-handed state response, leaders pointed out that instead of addressing the legitimate grievances of the youth, authorities subjected peaceful protesters to brute force, followed by a barrage of politically motivated First Information Reports filed across various police stations to systematically muzzle dissenting voices.
