Continuous seasonal downpours have filled half a dozen massive, deep potholes along the critical stretch, plunging the vital healthcare corridor into a state of shameful disrepair and raising serious concerns over public safety.
The dilapidated pathway serves as the daily entry point for hundreds of critical patients, frail elderly individuals, and young children seeking emergency medical intervention. However, persistent waterlogging has completely masked the true depth of the craters, turning the route into a hidden hazard zone. Motorists, auto-rickshaw drivers, and pedestrians are forced to navigate the submerged traps blind, leading to frequent slips, skids, and near-miss accidents.
Highlighting the immediate danger posed by the neglected infrastructure, locals recalled a recent harrowing incident where a young child suffered a fractured arm after falling into one of the water-filled trenches while traversing the approach road.The severe degradation of the macadam and chronic water accumulation have created a massive logistical bottleneck for emergency medical transport.
Ambulances ferrying trauma victims and critically ill patients are forced to crawl at snail’s pace to avoid mechanical damage or throwing patients into agonizing jolts, directly compromising the golden hour of medical care. During heavy spells of rain, the situation deteriorates further, turning the immediate hospital perimeter into a muddy swamp that deters normal pedestrian movement.
Despite the gravity of the situation and the high volume of daily footfall, public frustration is boiling over due to complete administrative apathy. Local residents, shopkeepers, and visitors point out that the road has remained in a dilapidated state for an extended period without eliciting any meaningful intervention from municipal authorities or the hospital management. Agonized citizens are urgently demanding immediate patch-work, permanent re-carpeting of the road, and proper drainage solutions to clear the standing water, ensuring safe and unhindered access to one of the region’s premier medical institutions.
