Tensions continue to escalate between the Jharkhand Police Association and Dumri MLA Jairam Mahato following a viral audio clip in which the legislator allegedly abused the Barwadda police station in-charge. With the five-day ultimatum issued by the association entering its fourth day on Sunday without any apology or administrative action, police personnel have warned of launching a phased, state-wide agitation.
Addressing the media, Sacchitanand Rai, Central Senior Vice President of the Jharkhand Police Association, expressed deep resentment over the MLA’s conduct. The association alleged that Mahato’s supporters are intentionally circulating unrelated, outdated audio and video clips from other states on social media to tarnish the police force’s image. Demanding an immediate public apology from the MLA to the station officer, the association stated that its future course of action will be finalized under the directives of its central leadership.
The association also posed four pointed questions to the legislator, highlighting that several police personnel had extended personal financial support to him during his election campaign. The representatives expressed shock that despite such goodwill, the lawmaker allegedly engaged in verbal abuse over a minor issue and subsequently targeted the police association.
